Particularly in the workwear sector, many uncertainties and questions arise around the topic of ‘washing and care’. Here are our most important basics:
Washing with towels
A particularly large number of towels are used in the cosmetics and wellness industry. However, do not be tempted to wash your towels and clothes together in one wash cycle. The soft pile of the towels will leave an unsightly ‘film of dust and fluff’ on your clothes after washing.
Heavy-duty detergent
Used for cleaning all white and colourfast textiles. White workwear can become very dirty in everyday working life. In an emergency, it can help to wash at a high temperature with a heavy-duty detergent. In contrast to colour detergents, heavy-duty detergents also contain optical brighteners and bleach in addition to surfactants and enzymes. This makes your white clothes appear fresh and bright. However, it can lead to discolouration on coloured textiles. Heavy-duty detergent is available in gel or powder form. Tip: For refreshing white clothes, you should use heavy-duty detergent in powder form. Bleaching agents do not last long in liquid form.
Colour detergent
A colour detergent without optical brighteners is suitable for coloured laundry. Make sure you buy a detergent without these additives. Liquid detergents do not contain any bleaching agents and are therefore particularly suitable for coloured textiles. Your colours are protected! In addition, it does not leave white stains on your clothes, as can happen with powders. Before washing, you should pre-sort your clothes into colour groups. Wash light and dark colours separately.
Stain pre-treatment
Use products for simple stain pre-treatment. For example, the ‘1 for all stain spray’ from the company Sil. Stain sprays are particularly suitable for the cosmetics and wellness industry, as make-up stains, grease, oil and pigment stains can be removed very well by pre-treatment. As a general rule, fresh stains come out better than old stains. You have a good chance of getting rid of the stain if the right remover is pretreated as quickly as possible.
Detergent dosage
The correct dosage of detergent must be observed in order to achieve the best possible washing results, to avoid unnecessarily harming the environment and to save money. Hard water requires much more detergent than soft water. It is therefore essential to test the water hardness at home - and dose accordingly. A test for this is available from any pharmacy. Too much detergent does not improve the washing result!
